Pediatric Speech Therapy
Pediatric occupational therapy helps children develop the skills they need for daily life. We focus on helping kids gain independence, confidence, and joy in the activities that matter most to them - whether at home, school, or play.
Whether your child is learning first words, improving pronunciation, or developing social communication, our South Coast Pediatric speech therapists in Orange County guide each step with expertise and care.
Through evidence-based methods and playful interaction, we help children strengthen their ability to understand, express, and connect with others.
What Speech Therapy Does
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) specialize in evaluating and treating communication, speech, and feeding challenges. We look at how your child understands language, uses words, produces sounds, and interacts socially. Therapy may also address thinking and memory skills that support communication, as well as oral-motor coordination for speaking and swallowing.
Each plan is customized to your child’s age and developmental needs, using fun, engaging activities that make learning feel natural and motivating.
Key Areas We Support
Speech & Articulation
Clarity and pronunciation of sounds (e.g., “w” for “r” in rabbit)
Fluency and stuttering
Voice and resonance concerns such as hoarseness or nasal quality
Language Development
Receptive language: understanding words, directions, and stories
Expressive language: using vocabulary, grammar, and sentences to share ideas
Pragmatic language: developing social communication skills like eye contact, turn-taking, and conversation
Cognitive-Communication Skills
Attention, memory, and problem-solving for daily learning and interaction
Organizing thoughts, planning, and following multi-step directions
Oral-Motor & Feeding Skills
Strengthening mouth, jaw, and tongue coordination for speech and swallowing
Addressing habits such as tongue thrust or thumb-sucking through orofacial myology
Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
Supporting nonverbal or minimally verbal children with communication devices or picture systems
Partnering With Your Family
We believe progress happens best when caregivers are part of the process. From your first visit, we collaborate with you to ensure therapy strategies extend into everyday routines.
Your therapist will:
Demonstrate simple ways to encourage speech and language during play, meals, or storytime
Suggest tools or activities that support your child’s communication goals
Teach you how to reinforce progress at home and celebrate every success
Together, we’ll build skills that help your child communicate confidently in every environment.
Why Speech Therapy Matters
Strong communication skills open doors to learning, relationships, and confidence. Early evaluation and therapy can make a lasting difference in your child’s development—supporting academic success, emotional growth, and meaningful connection.
Our goal is to help your child find their voice, express their ideas, and improve functionality in every stage of life.
