Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Pediatric occupational therapy helps children develop the skills they need for daily life. We focus on helping kids gain independence, confidence, and joy in the activities that matter most to them - whether at home, school, or play.
How we can help
At South Coast Pediatric Physical Therapy in Orange County, our pediatric occupational therapists help children gain skills to better take part in meaningful daily activities (their “occupations”). These include dressing, feeding, writing, playing, and managing sensory experiences.
Our therapists look at your child as a whole person—how they move, process information, and respond to their surroundings. We then evaluate your child’s strengths and challenges in areas such as coordination, sensory processing, self-care, and attention, and design an individualized plan to help them grow and thrive.
Common Areas We Support
Fine Motor & Hand Skills
Hand and strength and coordination for writing, cutting, and grasping small objects
Gross Motor & Postural Control
Larger movement coordination for tasks like progressing from sitting to crawling, throwing, catching, kicking, jumping, and overall coordination
Developing postural stability for play, sitting, and everyday movement

Partnering With Your Family
Caregivers play a key role in therapy success. We’ll show you practical ways to support your child at home and integrate strategies into daily routines. Together, we help your child practice skills where they matter most—at home, school, and play.
Why Occupational Therapy at South Coast Pediatric
Occupational therapy bridges the gap between ability and everyday function. While physical therapy focuses on movement and speech therapy develops communication, occupational therapy helps children use those skills in daily life.
Our goal is to help your child grow in independence, confidence, and joy.
